Flight cancellation policy

Free Cancellation for 24 Hours

When you purchase your ticket more than 24 hours before the scheduled departure, you are allowed to cancel the ticket free of charge within 24 hours of making the purchase. 

Refundable Tickets.

• The eligibility for a refund varies with your type of fare. Categories of flexible or higher fares also permit cancellations, with refunds being returned to the mode of payment. 

Non-Refundable tickets

• Lower or less expensive fares, including Econo or UltraBasic, might not be refundable, but in certain situations, unused taxes or unused credit can be refunded to your Travel Bank to use on future travel.

Voluntary Cancellations

Unless you cancel within the 24-hour time frame, after 24 hours, there are chances of cancellation charges or no-show charges depending on your fare policy.

Involuntary Cancellations

• In case the airline cancels the flight you are to take, you can rebook to the following flight or seek a hundred per cent refund.

Cabin Baggage

• 1 carry-on bag (53 x 38 x 23 cm) and 1 personal item.

Checked Luggage

• Standard Allowance: 1 bag with a maximum weight of 23 kg and a length, width and height of 157 cm.
• Premium and Business Fares: 2 checked bags of up to 23 kg each. WestJet Business Class guests can carry 3 bags on a few of the routes.
• Extra Fees: Bags over 23 kg or 157 cm will be charged extra and can be transported via Cargo in case they are over the accepted size.

Online & Mobile Options

• Check-in is available on the website or mobile app 24 hours before departure at most destinations. 
• At the check-in stage, you may choose or westjet change your flight seats, book your checked baggage, and print/download your boarding pass to travel without a hardcopy.

At the Airport

• Fly WestJet offers manned check-in counters and self-service kiosks, where the passenger can check in at the airport, which is advisable in case a passenger requires special services.
• The airport check-in time is usually 24 hours before departure time in large hubs, and 60-75 minutes before domestic and international flights.

Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) Policy

Age Requirements

• Upon 12 years: Children are not allowed to travel alone, unless by the UMNR service.
• Ages 12 to 18: The children are allowed to travel on their own and should have a government-issued photo ID.

Service Availability

• It is only accessible on direct, non-stop domestic flights.
• Unavailable to flights that include connections, code-share or interline partner flights, Vacations or group bookings.

How to Book

• WestJet books a flight with UMNR service with the Sales Super Centre.
• There is a fee that is paid, and this includes overseeing and taking care of the journey.
• Sign the unaccompanied minor form, which is mandatory and submit a copy of the ID of the child.
• The parent/guardian accompanying the person entering the house will be required to show a photo ID issued by the government when checking in.
